Kime-No-Kata (Kata of Self Defence)

Kime no kata is divided into 8 idori (kneeling) techniques, of which 3 are from an armed attacker and 12 tachi ai (standing) techniques, of which 2 are from a tanto (dagger) and 2 from a katana (sword). This kata requires complete concentration, dedication and harmonisation between uke and tori. There is a great deal to learn and understand from the familiarisation of the kneeling position for attackes and defences through to the ultimate use of weapons which are not intuitive for many judo players. You must learn how to transport (within the law), carry, handle, draw and replace weapons.
